This is absolutely phenomenal Brother Guess! As a grateful participant of these listening sessions I couldn’t agree more with your thoughts and love jazz as a medium for us to build community as Black Men. Thank you for foresight to create these spaces as well as for sharing thoughts brother!

Beautiful insight! as a younger black man exploring the turbulent terrain of his emotions, this piece is resonant. While we reflect on what we do for social standing and validation, the recognition of who we are beyond the labels and clearly visible is where true beauty lies. Beautiful exploration of the space!

This was beautiful I love to hear about the healing conversations our black men are having the courage to have with one another. I love you all and see you all beyond your titles because you're all so much more 💚

Strong piece Brother Andre!

Love the acknowledgment of enmeshment w/ “what we do” and the inherent competition amongst those that should be the strongest advocates of each other. As I’m not terribly familiar with jazz but am learning more each week, it seems that that genre (or lifestyle to some) is the perfect undercurrent to have those substantial interactions.

Keep doing the work… leading the way… and bridging the divide!
